RELATIONSHIPS · PERSONAL PATTERNS
Why do I want a relationship and then suddenly want to run?
Sometimes, just as a relationship becomes closer, something in us wants to break it, pull away, or start over.
Does wanting distance mean there is no love?
Not necessarily. One interesting idea in Human Design Profiles is that some people learn through trying, dismantling, and rebuilding. For them, the movement of “maybe I need to take this apart” can return again and again.
The difficulty begins when we feel we must explain the movement immediately. The mind searches for a reason, and stories appear: he is not enough of this, she always does that, maybe I made a mistake, maybe the relationship is wrong. A temporary urge can become a real poison in the relationship when the story takes over.
What can you do instead of panicking?
Give the movement space without turning it into an immediate decision. Sometimes you need room, time, and a life of your own. Then rebuilding may come naturally.
Of course, some relationships are not right to stay in. A chart cannot make that decision for you. It can help you distinguish a recurring mechanism from new information about the relationship.
Questions worth asking
- Does the urge to take things apart appear in nearly every relationship?
- What happens if I do not act on it immediately?
- Do I need space, or do I truly want to end this relationship?
- What still feels true after the wave passes?
